Community Events for Firearm Harm Prevention

We support community events to raise awareness about suicide prevention and firearm injury prevention, and provide resources and giveaways. Read here to learn more about what we've done and to access open-source resources and checklists to aid others in implementing similar programs.

We have conducted several community events and developed open-source resources that others may find useful when planning their own events.

Example partnerships:

  • We partnered with KP Washington Community Health to host a tabling event for four days at the 2025 Seattle King County Clinic, distributing over 3,000 cable locks, as well as other WA state resources for firearm harm and suicide prevention.
  • We partnered with colleagues at Southcentral Foundation to support 13 community-based tabling events in Alaska.  These events reached ~1,000 individuals, with distribution of >2,000 gun locks and >1,400 locking cases, cabinets, and ammunition boxes, as well as 988 suicide prevention resources.  The work was sponsored by a grant to Dr. Angerhofer from the CDC.
