We also partner with many community members, clinicians, and individual advisors for each project to try to gather as many voices and perspectives as we can. We find that co-designing takes time and effort and is worth it for the stronger, more impactful programs that result.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic

Dr. Jamila Owns-Todd and Dr. LJ Punch, Key partners
The BRIC is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that provides free, holistic care for people who have been injured, threatened, or bereaved by bullets, including both physical and emotional aftercare. It bridges the gap between emergency treatment and long-term recovery by offering services like pain and wound care, trauma and family therapy, spiritual support, and social work for patients and their loved ones. BRIC boxes are being used by KP to support firearm injury recovery.

Southcentral Foundation Research Department

Southcentral Foundation has a vision for a Native community that enjoys physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness and a mission of working together with the Native community to achieve wellness through health and related services. To support this mission and vision the Research department engages research on increasing firearm safety in our communities.

Center for Alaska Native Health Research

The Center for Alaska Native Health Research (CANHR), part of the University of Alaska, Fairbanks Institute of Arctic Biology, is a community-based, participatory research program focused on improving Alaska Native health. CANHR partners with tribes and tribal organizations to promote health and prevent illness through a lens of cultural and community-strengths. CANHR's mission is to build relationships and research-based knowledge to improve the health of Alaskans and Alaska Native people.

Center for Firearm Injury Prevention

C-FIP was established in 2019 at University of Washington wth funding from the WA legislature. We collaborate with community, research, and policy partners to: (1) investigate the determinants of firearm harm; (2) evaluate the effectiveness of firearm laws and policies; (3) assess consequences of firearm violence; and (4) develop and advance strategies to reduce firearm harm burden.

Center for Suicide Prevention

The first and only Center for Suicide Prevention at a school of public health, we use multidisciplinary approaches to preventing suicide using population-based and individual approaches. We aim to serve as a national resource on public health approaches to suicide.

Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative

The Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative strives to prevent firearm-related injuries and deaths in homes and communities across Colorado and the U.S. through collaboration, research, and education. We are committed to an approach rooted in recognition of a common goal of health and security, respect for and consideration of a wide range of views and experiences and engaging impacted communities and those with lived experiences.

Health Alliance for Violence Intervention (HAVI)

The HAVI’s mission is to reduce violence by advancing hospital-based violence intervention programs and coordinated, community-led systems that heal trauma and promote equity.

Health Resources in Action

We are a non-profit working to improve and reimagine public health. We connect, consult, and collaborate to solve complex challenges of access and equity in our health and social systems. Together with our partners, clients, and collaborators, we create actionable solutions so all people can thrive.

KP Center for Gun Violence Research and Education

Fatimah Loren Dreier, Executive Director; Melissa Mercado, Tom Simon, Key partners. We are focused on building a public health response to this epidemic, grounded in equity. Together, in collaboration with the Health Alliance for Violence Intervention (HAVI), the Center is building on Kaiser Permanente's pioneering firearm violence prevention efforts.

S.A.F.E. Firearm

During well-child visits, pediatric clinicians deliver the S.A.F.E. (Suicide and Accident prevention through Family Education) Firearm program by offering brief counseling around making sure children don’t play with or use firearms without parents’ or guardians’ permission and offering families a free cable lock.

Zero Suicide International

Zero Suicide International is a global collaborative dedicated to transforming how the world approaches suicide prevention. We unite leaders in healthcare, research, and lived experience to advance the Zero Suicide framework — a system-wide commitment that no one should fall through the cracks when seeking care.
